Mathias Angelhus — “After the Rain”

Album cover for Mathias Angelhus, a Norwegian singer songwriter, with clear references to the 60s and 70s. The album cover is both a visual interpretation of the music and a conceptual interpretation of the album title "After the Rain".

In the chorus of the title cut, the lyrics are: "I wonder if the sun will look the same - after the rain". The front of the cover is "a picture of the artist 'after the rain'" (using the "emulsion lift" technique, where the film of a polaroid is placed in a water bath and then transferred to a sheet). The reverse is, in the same conceptual way, a visualization of an "image of the artist exposed to sun" (where the Polaroid has been irradiated in a microwave).

The yellow toned, uncoated paper and a lot of white space in the composition emphasizes the low-key music, and the typography points to the same era as the musical references – the 60s and 70s. Water color vinyl.
